Although the comm seems kinda dead, it looks awesome, and I hate to see awesome comms die ;_;

1. Name: Katie/Chira
2. Age: 18
3. How long have you been an anime fan? Ever since my sister bought me a deck of Pokemon cards back when I was 7 or 8.
4. What is your favorite anime? I really truly hate these "favorite" questions (favorite book, favorite movie, favorite song, etc), as they change so often for me, depending on what I've seen at that moment, as well as what I'm feeling. The anime I could say is my favorite I might refuse to watch because I'm not in the mood. But if I'm being forced to choose, I would probably say Card Captor Sakura; it's a classic, it can cheer me up, and although it didn't address some of the issues brought up in the manga regarding relationships, it completely re-defined the magical girl genre. Plus, it's incredibly innocent and pure, while still being watchable by all ages.
5. Who is your favorite anime character? Again with the favorite questions...There are characters I like because they're horrible people, characters I like because they're hot, characters I like because they remind me of people, and characters I like because they're people I'd love to adopt and act all maternal towards. What's coming to mind right now is Hibird, from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and that's not even a person. In general though, I like characters who are confident, or have some trait of realism in them.
6. How large is your anime collection? Please list the anime in your collection (post pictures if possible)
...For one, I normally don't buy things, most of it is downloaded and burned, or borrowed from people, or has been rented from video stores. Also, I'm in my dorm, and most of the series I own are at my house, on the other side of the country. But I'll try. There's also a bunch of stuff that I watch online, but never download. Or that I simply watched on TV (most of the old stuff that I never bothered to track down - Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Big O, etc)

7. Where do you get most of your anime?
...as you can probably tell, most of it comes from the internet, but before I was corrupted, most of it came from video rental places, or I watched it on TV. The anime I actually buy usually either comes from cons, Amazon, or Best Buy. Sometimes Suncoast. Mostly cons and sellers off Amazon.
8. Subs or dubs?
subs. Only recently have English dubs not really fucked things over. For me, a voice is such a huge part of your personality, as well as your appearance, and bad casting, as well as redundant casting throws me off a lot. It's one thing to use the same person in many different projects. It's another thing completely to cast them as radically different people each time. And don't get me started on the changing and cutting of plots English dubs used to do. Dubs are getting better though, I will grant that.
9. How large is your manga collection? Please also list the manga in your collection (post pictures if possible)
My manga collection...is close to about 600 volumes right now. (and I recently had to donate about 100 to the library at my mother's insistence that my room was too cluttered for that many books) That I'd really have to look at to be able to name titles, as I keep adding new titles, lending things out to friends, as well as giving books away.
A lot of it is very similar to my anime collection, however. I also have everything published by CLAMP. Quite a few of the manga are in Japanese, because they're cheaper to buy. ^^ I also have a few comic anthologies for video games (such as Phoenix Wright and Tales of the Abyss) I can try to name titles, but know that a lot are going to be missing. It may also be alphabetical, as my shelf is alphabetical, and I'm trying to the best of my abilities to remember what's on my shelf.

Alice 19th

10. Where do you get most of your manga?
Borders. Borders for the English-language stuff, and Kinokuniya's for the Japanese language stuff (when I'm not in Japan, that is, but I don't normally buy that much when I'm there, 'cause I'm usually there for a while, and I don't like lugging large amounts of manga around and trying to stuff it into my suitcase for long periods of time)
11. Do you prefer manga or anime?
I prefer manga, because I can read a lot faster than I can watch. It takes me about 20-30 minutes per volume of manga, which is about the time it takes to watch one episode. And one volume of manga can contain anywhere from 4-6 episodes of anime. (case in point: I read the Prince of Tennis manga, chapters 1-three hundred whatever, in two days. It would've taken me more than a month to watch all the anime)
12. Do you own any anime soundtracks?
...In a word, yes. About a fifth of my iTunes playlist is soundtracks. (okay, not all of them are anime, but the majority are) A lot of the Miyazaki movies, and series that have either a catchy soundtrack, a soundtrack done by Yoko Kanno or Yuki Kajiura, or a piano-based soundtrack.
13. Do you have any anime posters in your room? (Post a picture if possible)
Yes. I have a large poster of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu that I got for free from AX for dancing at the ASOS booth at AX 07. I also have a few smaller ones mixed in with Demotivators ^^.
14. Do you speak any Japanese?
Yes. I am actually a double major in genetics and Japanese. I've been studying Japanese since high school, but I've been speaking Japanese around my house since I was able to talk (only a few words though)
15. Have you ever been to Japan?
Yes. I've been for the Rotary Club's Sister City Association, with my mother to visit her hometown, and once to be a translator for a student group. I'm going to be there for the majority of the summer, both to hang out with my mother, and again to be a translator for a student tour.
16. Do you cosplay? (post pictures if possible)
^-^ Yes. I have a cosplay.com account as crazy_kuroi, and most of my cosplay pictures are up there. I love cosplay, and I love sewing. I've cosplayed as quite a few characters, actually.
me as Mikuru being molested; I'm the one in the seifuku, not the maid costume
AX 07 as Cool Girl Tear, from Tales of the Abyss Tear again

My newest costume, Dahlia from Gyakuten Saiban 3, will debut at Katsucon 08 ^^

17. Are you in an anime club?
Currently, I'm the secretary of my college's anime club, and slated to be president next year (as a sophomore). I also started the anime club at my high school, after realizing that there wasn't one already. I ran it for four years until I graduated.
18. Have you ever been to an anime convention? Which one?
XD I've been to a lot. I'm a bit of a con addict. I love the atmosphere at cons. My first con was Anime Destiny, run by the UC Cal Berkeley Anime club. I've attended AX 06, the infamous one where CLAMP made an appearance, Fanime for three years, AX 07, many small cons, and I'm planning on going to Katsucon 08 in a few weeks. In total, in three years of being old enough to go to cons alone (my parents refused to accompany me to any cons, so I couldn't go to cons until 1) I could drive 2) my parents trusted me alone overnight), I've been to over 10 cons large enough to have badges, and a few smaller cons that didn't have badges (one-day cons)
19. Have you ever seen an anime in the movie theatre?
>_> yes. Well, the only anime that they've really shown in a movie theatre that you could buy tickets for was the Naruto movie (the FMA movie never came to our area). Oh no, wait, Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away were in theatres. And Paprika. But the Naruto movie I was actually a big enough of a nerd to cosplay to that. D: Our college anime club watches anime on movie theatre-sized screens sometimes though...
20. How would you describe your anime fandom? (What type of fan are you?)
I'm the type of fan that pretty much doesn't care what you like, as long as you have respect for my fandoms. Get me talking about something, and I will babble on about it endlessly, especially if you're into it too. Sometimes I can dissolve into mindless fangirling, but I tend to try to keep my fandom discussions level-headed and on the logical side. Unless you're someone I know won't shoot me for babbling incoherently about Koyasu's newest character, or how Tieria/Darth Vader is my OTP (Gundam 00 joke). I love talking about anime, a lot of the time, simply because it's such a large part of the Japanese culture, and you can find so many things that tie into the culture, especially in the slice-of-life shows. Mostly, I find that it's a great ice-breaker, and I love it to death. I write fanfic from time to time, read it rather too much, RP when I can, and have wonderful crack conversations with friends XD
